DDR Volksmarine Dienstflagge, small emblem
🔴 DDR Volksmarine Dienstflagge, FG-058.
East German 50 × 85 cm naval service flag with reduced emblem variant.
Synthetic flag cloth, multi-panel construction and a separately printed state emblem patch.
Unlike the regulation-compliant Volksmarine service flag, the emblem on this example measures only about 20 cm in diameter on a flag height of 50 cm, which is significantly smaller than the two-thirds proportion defined in the known DDR flag regulations of 1960 and later summarized in Gesetzblatt Sonderdruck 751 (1973).
The construction shows several features typical of institutional DDR flag production, including synthetic flag cloth, multi-panel sewn stripes, a reinforced cotton hoist sleeve and braided halyard hardware. The reduced emblem size therefore appears to reflect a manufacturing variation rather than a separate officially defined flag type.
