Union Flag (Admiralty Broad Arrow Issue)

🇬🇧 WWII-era Union Flag with Admiralty Broad Arrow mark.
Multipiece wool bunting, 3×6 ft marking, thick canvas header with rope and wooden toggle — likely Royal Navy issue.
This Union Flag (FG-051) was constructed from heavy wool bunting with a cotton canvas header, internal hemp rope, and wooden toggle. It bears both a “3×6” size stencil and the Admiralty broad-arrow mark indicating Crown property issued through naval stores. The material, stitching, and fittings are consistent with Royal Navy standards from the late 1930s to mid-1940s.
The dense weave, lockstitch seams, and original hemp cord confirm period manufacture — no synthetic fibre or modern reinforcement is present. Such flags were typically flown as the Union Jack aboard ships while in harbour or at shore establishments under Admiralty control.
