Silk Hinomaru captured in the Pacific War

Preview

🇯🇵 Silk Hinomaru captured in the Pacific War — later signed by U.S. GIs from the 81st Infantry Division.
Printed red disc, no kanji; multiple American names inked across the field.

This silk Imperial Japanese flag (FG-050) was captured during the final Pacific campaigns and later inscribed by members of the 321st Infantry Regiment, 81st “Wildcat” Division. The flag lacks Japanese slogans entirely — instead, seventeen U.S. servicemen signed their names and hometowns across the silk, many of whom are confirmed through Army records as having fought at Peleliu and Angaur in late 1944 and later served in the occupation of Japan.
