Soviet Navy ensign (dated 1979)

🚩 Soviet Navy ensign (dated 1979): wool bunting, GOST 8498-73 stamp, honest sea wear — a natural fit for the Grisha (Project 1124) environment.
This late-1970s Soviet naval ensign shows pigment-printed devices (clear through-print on reverse), a stitched hoist sleeve with internal rope and braided loop, and multi-row reinforcement at the fly. Markings include “1979 г.” and “ГОСТ 8498-73”, aligning with the 1973 marine-flag standard. The wool bunting, stitch layout and factory ink-stamping are consistent with period production.
Provenance is short and credible: acquired in Ukraine from the widow of a Soviet naval officer. Date, size class and construction fit the small anti-submarine corvette context of Project 1124 “Grisha” in the Black Sea theatre. As with any oral provenance, a small residual uncertainty remains until a unit/ship stamp turns up.
