Small Soviet Flag (British-Made, ca. 1940–1945)

🟥 Soviet flag made in Britain
Likely intended for Allied headquarters during the war, not military field use.
This small Soviet flag doesn’t follow any standard proportions, and its faded hoist stamp — “1 YD SOVIET UNION” — tells us it wasn’t made in Moscow. Instead, this is a British-made, double-sided wool flag printed during the early 1940s, probably to be hung in an Allied HQ or joint operations zone where Soviet presence had to be acknowledged visually.
Its coarse texture, English-language markings, and absence of mounting hardware all support a symbolic function. No ropes, no toggles — just a striking red flag with a yellow hammer and sickle bleeding through the wool.
