Interwar Imperial German War Ensign (Jutland Veterans’ Flag)
🇩🇪 A heavy wool Imperial war ensign from the interwar years, reused in WW2 veteran parades to mark the Battle of Jutland.
This 100 × 147 cm Imperial-pattern war flag was printed on coarse wool with a reinforced “railroad” header. It comes with a History Hunter certificate and shows clear tack marks, consistent with staff-mounted parade use.
The construction and the fuller Iron Cross design point to a 1930s commemorative issue rather than a naval contract flag. Such pieces were used in veterans’ associations and Jutland memorial ceremonies under the Third Reich, but commemorations faded quickly after 1945.
