Cotton Rising Sun Flag with Eight Signatures (1946–1949)

FG-041 Cotton Rising Sun Flag

🇯🇵 A small cotton Rising Sun flag with eight Midwestern U.S. veterans’ signatures — tied to the 33rd Infantry Division and 136th Infantry Regiment during the early occupation of Japan.

This 34 × 39 cm printed cotton Rising Sun flag carries eight handwritten inscriptions, dated 1946–1949. Several signatories were directly attached to the 136th Infantry Regiment, 33rd Infantry Division, during occupation duty in Japan. Others signed later at reunions across Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin, turning the flag into a living postwar document.

The full documentation includes unit context, service profiles of all eight men, and a detailed photo set of the flag.
