Early civilian Israeli flag with tunnel hoist, early 1950's

🇮🇱 Early civilian flag from Old Jerusalem, ca. 1948–56
.

This rare example of an early Israeli flag originates from a household in Old Jerusalem. Based on the textile type, stitching, and hoist, the flag is believed to have been produced between 1948 and 1956 for civilian display during the formative years of the state.

Its construction, with appliquéd Star of David and blue bands, aligns with the Rungee collection and other known ceremonial flags. The tunnel hoist and lack of reinforcements point to non-military, home or rooftop use. Full documentation and image gallery available below.
