Captured Reichskriegsflagge – Middelburg 1944

Taken by 7/9th Royal Scots during the surrender of Middelburg, this 1.5 × 2.5 m Reichskriegsflagge was a silent witness to the battle that unlocked Antwerp. ⚔️ Operation Infatuate: The flag was pulled down by Cpl. Walter Steane Rowland on 7 November 1944 as German forces on Walcheren surrendered.
📏 It retains its full wartime markings, cut rope hoist, wind damage – and matches photos from 2000 and 2025.
🎖️ A rare, fully traceable war relic from one of WWII’s key turning points.
